• Ultraviolet Remains Invisible to the Human Eye

  Here's my new word of the day: tetrachromacy, which refers to the ability to see four color spectrums, including ultraviolet. It's a level of sight humans do not possess. Need proof? • Is Best Buy Finally Getting Serious about CinemaNow?

  CinemaNow could easily be considered the hot potato of OTT. Starting as a standalone company running a movie streaming service, then acquired by Sonic in 2008 who eventually separated the platform – renamed to RoxioNow – from the service - CinemaNow. That CinemaNow brand name was acquired by Best Buy in May 2010, while RoxioNow was picked up by Rovi as part of the Sonic acquisition. And if you are confused by that brief history, just give it a couple weeks - we’ll see if the name changes yet again. ... • When It Comes to Sharing in New Entertainment Revenue, Glass is Last

  TDG’s newly released report, OTT TV Platforms, 2011 – Forecasts & Analysis, predicts that net-ready or “smart” TVs will rapidly become a primary platform for over-the-top (OTT) TV delivery. This forecast is seemingly great news for TV manufacturers who have long been living on razor thin margins. The idea that they their new platforms can enable new video services and applications means potentially lucrative recurring revenue sources. Sadly, much of that is an illusion.
