Early Thoughts from IBC

What We Have Here is a Failure to Communicate
When it comes to two-screen video delivery efforts, TDG has employed a very basic dichotomy: there is PC-to-TV delivery (web-based video enjoyed on the TV) and TV-to-PC delivery (made-for-TV content enjoyed on the PC). ...

How Not to Watch Web Video on the TV
My nomination for bone-head product of the week goes to Western Digital for the WD TV HD Media Player. This little set-top box, which sells for $129.99, sits under your TV consuming one of your precious HDMI TV ports. You plug in any USB drive, although it’s targeted at Western Digitals own MyBook line, and you can immediately access any media on the drive through the TV....

Yes, PayTV Operators, Be Afraid - Be Very, Very Afraid!
May 22, 2008 Four or five years ago, I attended a CTAM panel discussion on the digital transition featuring, among others, the SVP of technology for Comcast. During Q&A, I asked this gentleman what he and his company would do... More
