Webinar: Demystifying Free versus Paid Online Video

Thu, Apr 8, 2010

11:00 AM - 12:00 PM PDT

Will the eventual business model for high-quality long-form online video look more like free ad-supported broadcast television or more like paid, subscription-based cable television? This is the question many people are trying to answer. For example, late last year Chase Carey, News Corp’s deputy chairman, made news when he said that "I think a free model is a very difficult way to capture the value of our content." Does this mean free ad-supported TV on the Internet is already dead and that subscription services are the way to go?

Join Colin Dixon, TDG’s Senior Partner, Advisory, and Will Richmond, editor and publisher of VideoNuze as they dig into the issues with industry experts Chris Wagner, EVP of Marketing at NeuLion, a leading provider of technology and services to content owners and aggregators and Jason Krebs, EVP at ScanScout, a leading video ad network. They will look at all sides of the debate including issues such as:

  • the effectiveness of online subscription models

  • how well online video advertising is taking advantage of the Internet platform

  • how does TV Everywhere change the debate?

There will also be plenty of time for audience Q&A.

This is the second in a series of six webinars sponsored exclusively by ActiveVideo Networks and is complimentary for industry professionals.
