Summary -

“Let’s watch TV.” An innocuous phrase, one repeated countless times in our lives. But what does it mean in 2014?

With the emergence of online apps such as Netflix that blur the boundaries between “TV” and “video” content, “watching television” can in theory take place on a number of non-television devices, such as portable computers, tablets, and smart phones armed with mobile video apps. And indeed it does, as illustrated in this report.

The purpose of this report is to identify and profile those that use different mobile video apps on different devices. The four categories of mobile video apps discussed include:

  • Broadcast TV network apps;
  • Cable TV network apps;
  • Pay-TV operator network apps; and
  • Over-the-top (OTT) video service apps.
